This name is the hairshirt I wear...

Some more things I have noticed in my NCIS watching:

1. I don't like S2 Tony much. He's too much of a caricature, too cruel to both Kate and Tim. And he constantly gets away with his shit. I get that we have moments of depth there, that Tony's shown to be awesome at his job, that he's brave in the face of adversity. But he's still such a jerk too much of the time for me to appreciate him.

2. Kate's death is just as heartbreaking the third time viewing as it is the first. If not more so. I really liked her.

3. The first two episodes of S3 are tear-inducing in every single scene Kate's mentioned. Also, sexist in so many not cool ways. It's acknowledged, though, so I'm confused. If you can tell you're being sexist, show, how about not being sexist?

Went to see Avatar in 3D today. Tried to get in for IMAX viewing but that was sold out, so went in for the normal screen which was also packed.

Avatar is an amazing film, the CGI to live action is seamless, every bit of the screen when the main human characters are interacting with the Na'vi people and the indigenous species is awash with colour and eye-catching images.

The only downside to the day was a fresh flurry of snow, the slush and ice underfoot making walking anywhere disastrous !

Add to that the fact I had another one of my low blood sugar episodes, which made me feel dizzy and clammy, I looked like Bambi while trying to ensure I didn't lose my balance on the icy pavement...Oh how pathetic LOL !

Anyhoo, it's good to be cosy back home.

I can't believe it's over. The end of Tennant's time as the Doctor. It was epic, dramatic, mad, brilliant, sad and so much more. I loved it and hated it both. It was hard to watch in parts and in others I could watch it over and over. I didn't cry watching it through the first time, but during the second rewatch I did. Now I'm on the third time through and it's still all those things. It's still emotionally moving and a very fitting end to the Tenth Doctor. You just have to love our emo TimeLord. He died as he lived.

Spoilery thoughts about the last two episodes... )

Now the quiz is over for another year...

On the one hand, I am sort of insanely pleased he stuck by his convictions, and on the other --- awww, David.

And now I really need to go sleep.

... I may watch an episode of NCIS.

Big quizling thing...

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 3:39 AM
And now he's making a Midsomer Murders reference.

Of all of my fictional boyfriends, David Mitchell is the one I want to marry the most. ♥

Still Big Fat Quizzing

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 2:51 AM
.... And now I kinda slash David Mitchell/Jonathan Ross.

ALSO. ROB BRYDON'S SMALL MAN IN A BOX VOICE IS PROPERLY AMAZING. I AM AMAZED.

(I seem to have forgotten to glee all over the fucking place that this show not only has David Mitchell, but Rob Brydon too. IT IS ALL MY CHRISTMASES COME AT ONCE.)

Big Fat No...

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 2:37 AM
This just in: I should be asleep, but I love David Mitchell waaaaay too much to even contemplate not watching the entirety of the Big Fat Quiz and gazing at him with a gigantic, goofy grin.

"I refuse! Why? What the fuck makes you think I was going to do that? This isn't The Fucking Generation Game. Fuck off, I'm hired to sit here and be sarcastic! Not dance around like some [CENSORED]."

♥ ♥ ♥

Honestly, nothing pleases me more than David Mitchell ranting profusely. He's just adorable in a truly hilarious way. His indignance! His horror! His obstinance!

Doctor, how?

You should all know by now that I am not a fan of Doctor Who, so chances are this post may harsh your squee.

Well here we are. A new year, a new decade...

I am hoping, this year, to actually use this LJ to post my coherent thoughts and ramblings.

Whether I manage this after January is another matter LOL !

Yuletide for Me!

  • Dec. 29th, 2009 at 10:25 AM
I was very lucky again this year and received two awesome fics.

Keeping the Stars a Tony/Carol Wire in the Blood (mostly book canon) story that is a delectable mixture of disturbing and romantic. It's very much the perfect WitB story in a lot of ways (intriguing! lust-filled! gory!) and I just love it. Great voices and use of case detail.

AND

Lies the Color of Your Crimes which is a Peter/Neal White Collar story in which Neal disappoints Peter and then suffers and suffers because disappointing Peter is the worst thing he feels he can do. It gave me big heart-eyes. There's some wonderful Moz and El dialogue as well.

Merry Christmas to All...

  • Dec. 25th, 2009 at 6:40 PM
Well, Christmas day is here already. And it's nearly over...already is in some parts of the world. I haven't watched the new Doctor Who yet, still trying to get my presents all wrapped for my extended family Christmas tomorrow. Today was good. Opened presents this morning and had dinner in the afternoon. My main present was a new pink ipod nano. Other than that I got pj's and some movies. Sometime in the next few days I may finally get around to seeing the new Harry Potter now that I have it on dvd. I'm also going to be digging into the Doctor Who novels that I bought myself for Christmas. But right now I wanted to take time out to wish everyone a very Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!! Hope that everyone had a wonderful day filled with the joy of the season and the love of family and friends.

Here's a playlist from YouTube filled with BBC One Doctor Who Christmas cheer. Enjoy!!!
